Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908–2004), often referred to as “the eye of the 20th century,” is one of the most influential figures in photographic history. As the pioneer of candid street photography and originator of the now-legendary concept of the decisive moment, Cartier-Bresson transformed photography into a medium of profound artistic and humanistic expression. He was also one of the founding members of Magnum Photos.
This exhibition at CHANEL NEXUS HALL stands as one of Cartier-Bresson’s few official solo shows in Japan. Carefully curated, it focused on his quiet observations of daily life and his deep sensitivity to human presence—a perspective that forever shaped the language of modern photography.
